Hon. Yacqwub Mohamed Siyaad Accompanies President of Somaliland on Inspection Visit to Borama Airport Construction Site

As part of the third day of his official working tour in Borama, Awdal Region, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), accompanied by senior government officials including Hon. Yacqwub Mohamed Siyaad, visited the ongoing construction site of Borama Airport this morning.

The President received a detailed briefing from the Minister of Civil Aviation and Airport Development, Hon. Fu’aad Ahmed Nuux, who outlined the progress of the project. The current phase includes construction of the runway, taxiway, and aircraft apron, while the second phase will feature the passenger terminal and the Air Navigation Tower.

Minister Fu’aad further noted that beyond handling passenger and cargo flights, Borama Airport is planned to serve as the Emergency Response Aviation Hub for Somaliland, with capacity to support other regions if required.

President Cirro praised the Ministry of Civil Aviation, engineers, and construction teams for their dedication to completing this nationally significant project. He underlined that Borama Airport will play a crucial role in regional connectivity, trade expansion, investment attraction, and tourism growth in Awdal and across Somaliland.

In his closing remarks, the President assured the people of Borama and the wider Awdal Region that this project is a national priority. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensure its timely completion so that Borama Airport can soon begin serving the long-awaited needs of the community.
